James Thomas Joyner “Tommy” Sr. was born August 24, 1942 in Stevenson AL to the late Minnie E. Joyner and Mose Henry Martin. He accepted Christ at an early age was a member of the Center Star Missionary Baptist church and later attended Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church. He was a graduate of George Washington Carver High School in Scottsboro, AL, Class of 1961. Tommy was united in marriage to Ann Hutchins from this union was born Jamie Joyner. Later, Tommy was united in marriage to Debra Chapman and from this union two sons Steven and Craig Joyner and a daughter, Menyona Joyner were born. Tommy worked at Revere for many years. He later worked for the North Carolina Department of Transportation before becoming disabled. He leaves to cherish his memories, three sons, James Thomas Joyner Jr. of Stevenson, and Steven and Craig Joyner of Atlanta, a daughter, Menyona Joyner and grandson, Aris Joyner of Asheville NC; brother, Joe (Panilla) Joyner of Jacksonville NC; a host of Nieces, Nephews, Cousins, and Many friends; a special cousin, Precious “Betty” Stevens. Visitation will be 12-1 and the funeral will be at 1 PM Friday April 13 from the Valley Funeral Home Chapel in Stevenson. Burial will be in the Stevenson Community Cemetery.
