Mrs. Chantay Matthews, age 62, of LaVergne, Tennessee, passed away peacefully on September 20, 2025, surrounded by loved ones. Born October 6, 1962, in Cincinnati, Ohio, she was preceded in death by her mother, Edith Mae Wordlaw, and husband, Carl Matthews. She is survived by her children, Chaz Matthews (Jocelyn), Walter L. Matthews (Wakingdrea), and Shrika Pullom (Antoric); brothers, Walter Wordlaw, Leroy Wordlaw, and Barron Epes; grandchildren, and many cherished friends and loved ones. Services will be held at Valley Funeral Home, 1214 Kentucky Ave, Stevenson, AL, on Saturday, September 27, 2025. Viewing begins at 11:00 a.m., with the funeral at 12:00 p.m. and burial to follow. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages memorial donations to a charity of your choice.
