Conuard Wesley Higdon (C.W.) February 23, 1936 – November 25, 2025. C.W. passed peacefully with family by his side. He had a large blended family. He was very talented and had a high standard for hard work. He was a beekeeper for over 50 years, a cattleman for over 40 years, could fly an airplane, and could tell the best stories. He was an avid gardener, and when he couldn’t do it, he sat on a bucket and dictated. He loved to fish, play cards, and shooting fireworks was his favorite. You could find him at Fort Payne Stockyard every Tuesday. Conuard is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Shirley Jackson Higdon. According to him, she’s the best cook on the mountain. He is also survived by his daughters: Abigail (Donald) Long, Laquada (Steve) Camp, Donna (Reggie) Culpepper, Lynn (Chris) Ware, Celena (Bob) Cummins. Sons: Tommy Higdon and Billy (Kristi) Gentle. Grandchildren- Daniel (Tebra) Gentle, Cassie (Craig) Carrell, Kaitlyn (Dillion) Reece, Brooke (Aubrey) Ledbetter, Tyler Gentle, Heather (Nelson) Poore, Damon Gentle, Shawna Gentle, Morgan (Jake) Elliott, Benny (Benji) Higdon, Jamie (Russ) Ulrich, Jessica (CJ) Bess, Chelsea (Brian) Karg, Keely Ellison, Lauren (Sam) Guin, Austin (Madison) Cummins, Dallas Cummins, Scarlett (Chris) Harvey, Hannah (Jay) Smith, Emily (Alex) Cash, Nicole, Robin, Katie, Patty, Paula, Rachel, and Bristy. Great Grandchildren- Auburn, Tessa, Jase, Journee, Nolan, Clyde, Miley, Everett, Makayla, Zander, Kane, Jett, Harrison, Stetson, Eli, Izzy, Pryor, Carter, Paige, Kristin, Noah, Lily, Colin, Cash, Jordan, Morgan, Dakota, Logan, Preston, Christopher, Lauren, Coleson, Noah, Jeremiah, and Isaiah. Great Great Grandchildren- Bristol, Kerri, Grayson, Lynk, Connor, Abigail, Luke, Elliana, Everleigh, and many more. Brothers and Sisters- Gary (Ruth) Higdon, Patsy Allison, and Sharon Minor. He was preceded in death by his parents, Wesley and Lillie Higdon. Sons, Benny Higdon and Darren Gentle. Brothers, Marlon Higdon, Billy Higdon, and Chester Higdon. Sisters, Juantia Higdon. His wish was to live to February so he would have been the longest living Higdon. He is tied with his uncle Walter Higdon. They both passed 3 months shy of their 90th birthday. Visitation will be Friday from 1-8 central time and the funeral will be 1:30 PM central time Saturday November 29, 2025 from the Valley Funeral Home Chapel in Stevenson. Burial will be in the Higdon Cemetery
