Dezmen DaShawn Jernigan, aka Lil D, 18 years old of Goshen Ohio, passed away on October 6, 2024 after a tragic car accident that resulted in the loss of several young lives. Dezmen was born on June 30th of 2006 to Darrell Jernigan and Crystal Hill in Scottsboro, Alabama. He is survived by his parents, Darrell and Jeri Jernigan; mother Crystal Hill; siblings, Destiny Jernigan, Jason Dunn, Allie Clements, Journey Jernigan, and Lexi Brooks; grandparents, Denice Nunley, Jerrie Welch, and Rita Duncan; aunts and uncles, Robert Smith, Felicia Vaughn, Brittany Smith, Tino Smith, Phillip Hill, Megan Wilbourn, Troy Arnold, Tracy Sanders, Louis Estes, and April Estes; He was survived by many more family members, cousins and loved ones. After Dezmen graduated from Clermont Northeastern High School in 2024, he went on to work with his father learning every thing about working construction, interacting with customers, as well as many other aspects of running and owning a company that was intended to be built on traditional family values and at some point handed down to Dezmen, Darrell's only son. Dezmen was loved by everyone that knew him and loyal to a fault for the ones that he loved. He enjoyed basketball, music, "chillin with friends" and much more. He was your typical teenage boy, he hated school and/or work, playing videos games, aggravating his siblings, and never taking the trash out. He would even resort to paying a sibling to do his chores at times. "Its not even that deep Dad" was the epitome of Dezmen's personality. Given the chance, Dezmen could make you smile and laugh at some of your lowest moments. While we mourn the loss of Dezmen, we also celebrate the beautiful memories and joyful moments we shared with him. His legacy of love, laughter, and compassion will forever remain in our hearts. May he rest in peace, surrounded by the eternal light of God’s love. Visitation will be on Monday from 4-8 and the funeral will be 2 PM Tuesday October 15, 2024 from the Valley Funeral Home Chapel in Scottsboro. Burial will be in the Pinehaven Memorial Gardens.
