Elzada Jackson, a loving wife, devoted mother, cherished grandmother, and faithful servant of God, transitioned peacefully on January 29, 2026, at her home, surrounded by her loving family. Her life was a testament to faith, service, and unconditional love. Elzada was born On February 6, 1950, in Bridgeport, Alabama to Frankie McFarland Wilkerson and Luther John Wilkerson. She received her education in the Jackson County School System and was a proud graduate of Bridgeport High School, Class of 1968. Elzada went on to build a strong work ethic and career that spanned many years. She began her professional journey as a dietician at South Pittsburg Hospital, where she served faithfully for several years. Her career also included employment with Shaw Industries, Mead Corporation, and Veriform. In 2010, she embraced one of her most treasured roles—becoming a full-time Nana, a title she wore with immense pride and joy. Elzada was a devoted member of Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church until her health began to decline. Her commitment to the church was unwavering; she attended services regularly and served diligently in many capacities. She was a dedicated member of the Usher Board, served as President of the Junior Usher Board, was appointed as a Deaconess, and fulfilled the nurturing role of a church mother. Her quiet strength, guidance, and faith left a lasting impact on her church family. In her personal life, Elzada found joy in traveling, shopping, and most of all, spending quality time with her family—especially her three beloved grandchildren. She was known for her warm spirit, gentle nature, and selfless heart. Those who knew her best will remember her as caring, dependable, and always willing to put others before herself. Elzada had a deep love for cooking for her family, finding joy in bringing everyone together around the table. Her meals were more than food—they were expressions of love. Anyone who tasted her cooking knew they were cared for and cherished. She lived a life of service, always ready to lend a helping hand, and her generosity touched countless lives. She was preceded in death by her parents, Frankie Wilkerson and Luther John Wilkerson. Elzada leaves to cherish her precious memories her loving and devoted husband, Clyde D. Jackson; two daughters, Tammy (Jonathan) Nichols of Tanner, AL, and Kimberly (Marcus) Moore of Athens, AL; three grandchildren, Aaliyah Nichols, Aaron Nichols, and Jaxson Moore; five sisters, Dorothy (Dillard) Lane of South Pittsburg, TN, Gwendolyn Williams of Indian Trail, North Carolina; Willie (James) Staton of Scottsboro, AL; Geraldine (Rayford) Cothron of Bridgeport, Alabama; and Regina Wilkerson of Cartersville, GA; one brother, Luther John, Jr. (Janice) Wilkerson of Winchester, TN; three sisters-in-law, Charlsie (Elias) Edwards of New York, NY; Dorothy Jackson of Fort Washington, MD; and Sidney Jackson of Chattanooga, TN; three brothers-in-law, Earl Jackson; Alvin (Darlene) Jackson of Stevenson, AL; and Terry Battle of Atlanta, GA; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and dear friends. Elzada Jackson leaves behind a legacy of faith, love, service, and family. Her life was well lived, her love deeply felt, and her memory will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. Visitation will be 1-2 Thursday February 5, 2026 at the Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church and the funeral will be 2 PM Thursday February 5, 2026 at the Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church.
