Gerald Harbin Obituary

Mr. Gerald Eugene Harbin age 64 of Bridgeport, Alabama, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, December 9, 2020. Mr. Harbin’s greatest joy on this earth was loving and caring for his family. Mr. Harbin had a smile that would light up the room, and he gave the best heart-warming bear hugs. He was hard-working, kind-hearted, and selfless in his service to others; a true friend to everyone he met. Mr. Harbin loved and served his lord as an ordained deacon, singer, and choir director. His favorite verse from Scripture was Matthew 11:28-30. Mr. Harbin was a 1974 graduate of Paint Rock Valley High School where he played basketball. Mr. Harbin also enjoyed time spent outdoors especially fishing. He passed his love of basketball and of the outdoors to his grandsons. Mr. Harbin was employed as a crane operator at Seridino, Inc. Mr. Harbin is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Susan Harbin; devoted daughters and sons-in-law, Crystal and Chad McCrary of Stevenson, Alabama and Melissa and Jason Bowen of Scottsboro, Alabama; three precious grandchildren of whom he was a proud papa, Jordan Eakin and Hunter McCrary of Stevenson, Alabama and his precious princess Miss Oakleigh Kate Bowen of Scottsboro, Alabama; sisters and brothers-in-law, Peggy and Tony Pierce and Ann and Shannon Cryer; brother, Dennis Harbin; brothers and sisters-in-law, Doyle and Melonie Harbins, Eddie and Janice Harbin, and Jerry and Angelia Harbin; mother-in-law, Margaret Willis; a host of family and friends. Mr. Harbin was preceded by his parents, Eugene and Louise Harbin; brother, Lester Elic Harbin; maternal grandparents, John Robert and Oma Reed; paternal grandparents, Dan and Nellie Harbin; father-in-law, Cy Willis. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 15, 2020 from 4:00-8:00 PM at Valley Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 16, 2020 at 2:00 PM at Valley Funeral Home.
