Mrs. Mary Virginia Cargile, known by her family and friends as Ginger, 79 years old of Scottsboro, Alabama passed away on Saturday, June 29, 2024. Virginia was known for her warmth and love for people. She was a gifted Southern cook, and a lover of Southern culture. Ginger loved stories and could turn even the most mundane moments of daily life into an entertaining story. She enjoyed moments spent gathered around in conversation, more than likely, with a cup of coffee in hand. Her greatest love was her family, and she never failed to tell them just how much. If you ever received a card from Ginger, you know that she always wrote “a book” with a long, lengthy personalized message because what Hallmark wrote never seemed to be enough. Ginger was preceded in death by her parents Ina and Howard Wells, and a loving sister, Carolyn Noles. She is survived by her husband, Walter Cargile, siblings Rex (Marie) Wells, Jimmy Wells, Charlotte (Rick) McDowell, and Frances Culpepper, sister-in-law Anne (Dennis) Romeli, brother-in-law Martin (Sandy) Otway, niece-Deanna (DeLane) Griffin, nephew-Jonathan (Jenna) Bell and Derek Culpepper, great niece-Jade (Brandon) Buford, great nephews-Butler Bell, Parker Bell, Cross Culpepper, Chase Griffin, Hayden Otinger, and a lifelong friend-Barbara Lacey. She had many special and dedicated friends because Ginger never met a stranger and made friends wherever she went. Valley Funeral Home in Scottsboro, Alabama is handling the arrangements. Per Virginia’s wishes, a graveside service is planned for Sunday July 14, 2024 at 2:00 pm at Cedar Hill Cemetery.
