Horace Verhine

Sgt. Horace Butler Verhine, 78, of Bridgeport, AL passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family after a brief battle with cancer. Mr. Verhine is survived by his wife of 53 years Wanda Kay “Wilson” Verhine. Sons, William E. “Boogie” Verhine and Kevin P. Verhine. Grandsons, Reese King and Evan King of Stevenson. Brother William Ernest Verhine Jr (Carletta) of Dalton, GA. And his beloved dog Patience. He was preceded in death by his parents William Ernest and Mary Louise Verhine. Brothers, Herman Bedford Verhine (Section) and Johnny Verhine and sister Elanor Fairbanks of Scottsboro. Mr. Verhine was retired from the U.S. Army and TVA. He was a huge fan of University of Alabama Football. ROLL TIDE!! Visitation will be Sunday from 2-8, Monday from 2-8 and the funeral will be 11 AM Tuesday July 7, 2026 from the Valley Funeral Home Chapel in Stevenson. Burial will be in the Pinehaven Memorial Gardens.
