James "Handyman" Dillard Obituary

James Albert “Handyman” Dillard was born April 9, 1959 in Scottsboro, AL. He departed his life at an early age on Sunday February 8, 2026 at his residence. He was the son of Homer “Pete” Dillard and Flora Dillard who both preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by a loving sister, Janice Rose Snodgrass; brothers, Robert “Homebrew” Dillard and Billy R. “Smokey” Dillard. Handyman was known as a peaceful soul, a loving big hearted person, and loved to joke just to make everyone around him laugh. He was just a happy person all around. He accepted Christ at an early age and united with Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church in Woodville, AL. He was educated in the Scottsboro City School system and after school, Handyman went on to join the National Guard. His memory will always liv on and he will always be cherished and missed by his loving daughter, Sheena (Roosevelt) Glanton; granddaughter, Aaliyah Jackson; grandsons, Domnick Robinson and Isaiah Glanton; special friend and mother to his child, Sytira Prter; step children, Sharee (Darcy) Benton and Sharena (Charlie) Moore. His memory will also live on and be cherished and missed by his brothers, Larry (caregiver) Dillard, Johnny (Linda) Dillard, Leroy Dillard, and Jeffrey (Ann) Dillard all of Scottsboro, AL; one God brother, Leon (Deb) Robinson of Huntsville; sisters, Evelyn (Clarence) Dillard of Scottsboro, Connie Middleton of Jacksonville, FL, and Undrea (caregiver) Dillard of Scottsboro, AL; two God sisters, Deundrea and Sonya Green of Scottsboro, AL; aunts, Edna Cunningham of South Pittsburg, TN, and Helen Cross and Nancy Dillard of Huntsville, AL; uncle, Handy Dillard of Huntsville, AL; a host of nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews; special family friend the Foster family of Chickamauga, GA; special friends, Sander Wilbanks, Kevin Jenkins, Emanuel Jenkins, Samuel Nickolson, Ann Brown, Tammy Beason, Alexia Algarin, Lindora Howard; his special fur baby, Sage; a very special thank you to Hospice of North Alabama-Scottsboro and the Clearview Cancer Institute Staff. Visitation will be 1-2 Saturday February 21, 2026 and the funeral service will be 2 PM Saturday February 21, 2026 from the Valley Funeral Home Chapel in Scottsboro.
