Jean Stewart McCrary, 82, lifelong resident of Stevenson, AL passed away peacefully on August 20, 2024. She was preceded in death by her parents Homer Lee and Mary Elizabeth Stewart, husband of 48 years Foy McCrary, daughter Melinda Jean McCrary, brothers Homer Lee Stewart Jr, and James Lewis Stewart, and grandson Hunter McCrary. She is survived by her sons Michael McCrary (Stefanie), Chad McCrary (Crystal), brother Edward Stewart (Joyce), grandchildren Landon McCrary, Jordan Eakin (Grace), and many nieces and nephews. Jean had a passion for her family and was a devoted wife, loving and caring mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, aunt and friend to all that met her. She loved cooking for her family and supporting and attending her sons and grandchildren’s sporting events. She loved cheering on the Panthers, Chiefs, Braves and the Crimson Tide. She was also an active member of her church and community. She was a graduate of Stevenson High School Class of 1960, was a member of Edgefield Missionary Baptist Church, and a former member of the Stevenson Jaycees, Stevenson Mothers Club, Scarlett Divas Red Hat Society, Stevenson/North Jackson Quarterback Club and Baseball Boosters. Funeral Services will be held at Valley Funeral Home on Friday, August 23 at 2:00 pm with Brother Donald Jacobs, Brother Dustin Henshaw, and Brother David Talley officiating. Visitation will be Thursday, August 22 from 5:00 pm – 8:00. Burial will be in the Stevenson City Cemetery. Pallbearers: Mike McCrary, Chad McCrary, Landon McCrary, Jordan Eakin, Lance McCrary, Eddie Stewart In lieu of flowers, the family wishes memorial contributions would be made to McCrary’s Mission, a non-profit established in her late grandson Hunter’s memory.
