John David Cox passed away August 27, 2020 with family at his side. He was a resident of Scottsboro, Alabama and a member of Agape Baptist Church. John was born March 22, 1966 in Warren Ohio to Richard Cox and the late Judith (nee’ Yoxtheimer) Brem. While he began life in Ohio, after graduation from high school, John joined the U.S. Navy where he had a career spanning 21 years and the globe. He retired as a Chief Petty Officer and a plank holder of the USS Mahan (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/USS_Mahan_(DDG-72)). In the years following his Naval career he earned a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Business Administration and continued his service to our country as a civilian employed by the U.S. Army. He will continue to live on in the memories of his family and friends, including his son Benjamin Cox, and his daughters Jessica Stephens and Julia Cox, and granddaughters Emorah and Elsie Stephens. He was preceded in death by his granddaughter Eliana Stephens and his wife Stacy Eastman Cox last year. A memorial service for John will be held at 6:30 PM, Monday August 31, 2020 at Agape Baptist Church in Scottsboro, Alabama. The service will be followed by a celebration of his life and dinner.
