John (Slim) McCamey was born to the late Beatrice and Sam McCamey in Larkensville, AL, and departed this life on October 31, 2025. John was the second child of six children. He was a devoted son, husband, father and Papa. John was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Louise McCamey, his mother, Beatrice McCamey, father, Sam McCamey, two brothers, Sam Bo McCamey and Charley McCamey and two sisters, Flora Coffey, Mildred Earl and daughter-in-law, Deborah McCamey. He always worked outside the home and at home. He worked for Word Motor Company as a Mechanic for 65 years. After working for Word, he worked at home until he realized it was time to quit. He was always helping other in the community. John confessed Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. He was a humble man and always loved to talk about things that he and his siblings had done growing up. He also talked about the older ladies that he would pick up and carry them to work. He leaves to cherish his memories: his daughter: Ilene (Tommy) Cothron, two sons, John (Sharon) McCamey, David McCamey, Grandsons: Darron (Elnora) McCamey, Patrick (Lacretia) McCamey, granddaughters: Cassandra McCamey, Kabrina McCamey, great grandchildren: Malik McCamey, Kei’Shaun Henry, Zyon Henry, P.J. McCamey. Brother: Willie L. McCamey, sister in-laws, Dorothy (Raymond) Hudson, Joyce (Thomas) Davis. A host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Visitation will be 11-12 on Saturday and the funeral service will be 12 PM Saturday November 15, 2025 from the Valley Funeral Home in Stevenson. Burial will be in the Old Baptist Cemetery in Hollywood.
