James “Junior” Milton Rorex, Jr. passed away December 13, 2021. Junior was born in Stevenson AL on April 11, 1940. He worked for TVA from 1972 to 2004. He has been a supervisor at the Stevenson Park from 2004 until now. He is survived by his wife, Dorthy; his daughter, Anita Rorex Blevins (Dennis); his sons, Ricky Rorex (Romy) and Eddie Rorex (Shelia); one granddaughter, Amy Blevins; grandsons, Dennis Blevins Jr. (Kelly) and Nicholas Rorex; great grandsons, Conor, Kyler, and Caleb Blevins and great granddaughter, Andi Grace Smith; brothers, Tommy Rorex (Pat) and Jim Rorex; step sons, Dalton and Jason Steele; step granddaughters, Joni Stevens and Haley Steele; step great grandchildren, Tia Peacock, Shawntez, Devan, and Aleah Ballard; great great grandson, Greyson “Cowboy” Peacock; several nieces and nephews; along with a host of friends and family. He was preceded in death by his parents, James Milton and Betty Liza Rorex; brother, Herman Rorex; sister, Virginia Ruth (Jean) Byrd and sister in law, Edith Rorex. He was a beloved coach of little league baseball and basketball teams from 1980 to 1988 at both the Scottsboro Rec Com and the Stevenson Park. He was also the assistant baseball coach for the North Jackson High School baseball team, from 2004 to 2006. He spent a lifetime teaching and coaching young athletes. He was an avid fan of Alabama football and Braves baseball. Visitation will be Thursday, December 16 from 4-8 PM. Funeral services will be 2 PM Friday December 17, 2021 at Valley Funeral Home in Stevenson. Interment will be in the Long Acre Cemetery, Stevenson, AL. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to the Stevenson City Park, 104 Kentucky Ave. Stevenson, AL 35772.
