Lois Smith Obituary

Lois Jean Teague Smith was born September 27, 1953, to Mrs. Louise Moore and Mr. Willie Frank Teague Sr., in Scottsboro, Alabama. Her stepfather, Fred Lee Moore, also played a vital role in her upbringing. Lois graduated from John McDonald High School in New Orleans, Louisiana. In 1978, she went on to further her education by graduating with an Associate’s Degree of Science from Northeast Community College, in Rainsville, AL. In the early 80’s, she would answer a new call by obtaining her cosmetology license, at Molar Beauty College, in New Orleans. She would later come back to Scottsboro, AL. and operate her own hair salon. However, one of her greatest inspirations and proudest moments was graduating with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business, from Huntington College in 2015, at the age of 61. She completed this achievement while working full-time for the State of Alabama. She worked for the Unemployment Services for over 25 years, until her retirement. Lois loved the Lord and was a long-time member of St. Paul United Methodist Church, in Stevenson, Al. She continued to send her tithes, even when she became bed ridden. On April 6,1974, Lois married her “Best Friend” and the “Love Of Her Life,” Bruce Smith. The two were inseparable. Whether up late night watching tv. or picking out the perfect foundation at the Dillard’s counter, you were sure to find the two together. In 1983, they welcomed their son, Michealon Smith, to the union. Micheal as she would call him, was Lois’s “Baby,” until her last breath. Lois departed this life on Thursday, February 15, 2024, in Huntsville, AL., surrounded by family. She leaves to cherish the memory, a loving and devoted husband of 50 years, Bruce; her baby, Michealon; 3 sisters, Ruby Moore, Mary Thomas, Sara Bush (William Mathews); Father-in-law John Smith; Special son Curtis Harley; Sisters-in-law, Brothers-in-law, a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends as well as special friends, Fran and James Potts. All parents have proceeded her in death, Mrs. Louise Moore, Mr. Willie Frank Teague Sr., and Mr. Fred Lee Moore. There were two brothers that proceeded her in death as well, Willie Teague and Jimmy Teague. Lois had the most upbeat spirit and loved family time. Her siblings were the joys of her life. She loved their time spent together and the many memories that they shared. She never allowed a moment to pass by without telling her loved ones how much she loved them. She also had a giving spirit. She always made sure her loved ones were celebrated and thought about. She would frequently send Bruce on shopping runs for the Holidays and Birthdays. Cooking was another strong suit. She would cook chitterlings for those family members who were fond of them, but everyone in the family loved her green beans. They loved them so much that once she became bed ridden, she taught Bruce how to cook them so that her presence could still be felt during the Holiday meals. She also loved her New Orleans Saints & Auburn Tigers. She never missed a moment to yell, “Who Dat?!,” to her Falcon cheering family. We will cherish the memory of her spirit. She will truly be missed!
