Millie Shelton

Mrs. Millie Frances Hammon Shelton passed away on September 01, 2020 in Scottsboro, Alabama. Mrs. Shelton or Ms. Millie as everyone who knew called her, was born at Carnes, Alabama , January 27, 1937 to Millie and M.A. Hammon. She was the first of 10 children. During her life and career she met many people and made many friends and helped many people. She retired as the manager of the Scottsboro Housing Authority. Millie sent out hundreds of Christmas Cards and Birthday cards every year to many friends and family. Her goal was to get the first Christmas card out every year. Her thinking was that she she couldn’t afford to buy Christmas presents or birthday presents for everyone, but she could send a card to show that she was thinking of them. So many recipients of these cards will miss the thoughtfulness of Millie Shelton. She is survived by her daughter, Sheila (Buster) Shelton Hargis; granddaughters Erin Hollis (Hester) and Shannon Warren (Chris); 6 great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandchild. Her sisters: Kathy Moore (Glen); Linda Baty (John); and Janet Pritchett(Carl). Her Brothers: Ronald (Malinda); David (Ruby); Bobby (Pam); Miles (Ann); and Jerry (Debbie), and many many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents Millie and M.A. Hammon; husband Robert Wayne Shelton, son Richard Wayne Shelton, brother Stanley Hammon, sister in law Verna Hammon; grandsons Brian Potts, and Alan Shelton.
