Mr. Oscar Lee Harris, 97 of Stevenson AL passed away peacefully at his home May 10, 2025. He was born on December 15, 1927, in Stevenson AL to the late Tom Harris and Martha Jones. He was a proud United States Navy Veteran. He was honorably discharged in 1946, and after serving he returned home to Stevenson where he started his work career at the Railroad. He then started at Avondale Mills and later became employed at TVA Widows Creek Steam Plant where he later retired. Oscar Lee was a devoted member of Matthews Chapel African Methodist Episcopal Church in Fackler AL where he was on the Steward and Trustee Boards. Oscar Lee loved to watch westerns, soap operas and his favorite sports teams. His favorite teams were The North Jackson Chiefs, The Los Angeles Dodgers and The Alabama Crimson Tide. Oscar Lee is survived by his wife of 79 years, Bernice Harris and 5 children, Dorothy (Thomas) Woods, Marshall (Deborah) Harris, Walter (Loretta) Harris, Sharon (Gerald) Teague, and Vivian (Nat) Cunningham. Sister, Hazel Clarke of NY, NY and one Sister-in-Law Edna Jackson of Memphis TN. 8 grandchildren, 13 Great-Grandchildren, 6 Great-Great Grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Special thanks to Parkridge Hospital, Enhabit Hospice and Valley Funeral Home. Visitation will be Thursday from 11-12 and the funeral service will be 12 PM Thursday May 15, 2025 from the Valley Funeral Home Chapel in Stevenson.
