We are sad to announce the passing of Rachel Hess, who passed away on August 13, 2024, in Attalla, Alabama. Born on October 14, 1943, Rachel was the beloved daughter of Bill and Rilla Walden. In 1976, Rachel married the love of her life, Ronald Hess, and together they raised three wonderful children. Their daughter Linda Bigelow, who is married to Alan Bigelow, their son Chuck Evans, and their son Greg Hess, who is married to Bently Hess. Rachel was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother to her five grandchildren, six great grandchildren, and Two great-great grandchildren. Rachel had many brothers and sisters and is survived by Sandra “Ricky” Smith and Elizabeth Henry. She had a passion for fishing, cooking, and spending time with her family. Her sense of humor and kindness touched the lives of all who knew her. Although she will be deeply missed, Rachel's memory will live on in the hearts of her loved ones. Rest in peace, Rachel Hess. Special thanks to Erlanger hospital SICU staff and doctors, Pro-health Hospice, and Sandra Smith for helping us care for us. Funeral arrangements will be held at Valley Chapel Funeral Home on Friday August 16, 2024 in Scottsboro Alabama. Visitation will be 2-4 p.m. for family and friends. Graveside Service will follow at Cedar Hill in Scottsboro Alabama.
