Rex Lee Allen was born March 6, 1951, in Jackson County, Alabama. He transitioned into his Heavenly home on June 7, 2025. Rex was the second of six children born to Elder Worley T. K. Allen and Beulah Savage Allen. Their Christian home in Cedar Grove was filled with love, laughter and food. His father was a Pastor, and his mother was an affectionate homemaker who loved to cook and shared delicious meals with anyone in the community who stopped by. From a young age, Rex always greeted family, friends and strangers with a beautiful smile. During his up bringing he was surrounded by many cousins and friends in the Cedar Grove community and other places where he resided. He was educated in the Jackson County, Alabama school system, and attended Alabama A&M University on a football scholarship. In later years he lived in Paducah, Kentucky, Chattanooga, Tennessee, and Riceville, Tennessee, where he resided until his death. For many years, Rex was employed as an Operator for the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA). He later owned and operated Finishing Touch (a vehicle detail shop). His entrepreneurial spirit led him to open a second business, Allen Masonry, where his kindness and knowledge fostered a reputation as an excellent brick, stone, and stucco mason with both private homes and large commercial projects. He enjoyed cooking and in recent years welcomed many people to “The Field,” a property he owned in Stevenson, Alabama. In addition to his business ventures, he coordinated large outdoor barbecues, RV parking, and other gatherings for family, friends, and the Old Cruise Car Club. Rex loved the Lord and dedicated his life to Christ as a young teen. He was a member of Wesley Chapel Methodist Church in Stevenson, Alabama. He used his melodious voice to sing praises to the Lord. Later, he became a member of Sanford Baptist Church in Riceville, Tennessee. Preceding him in death were his parents; two sisters, Lottie Allen Henry and Laura Jean Allen; and two brothers, Jessie Allen and James Thomas Allen, and a granddaughter. Left to cherish his memories are his wife of twenty-five years, Lola Arnwine Allen; son, Jermaine Allen; a devoted sister, Margaret Jo Fletcher; uncle, Michael Allen; grandchildren, a greatgrandchild; a sister and two brothers in law, nieces, nephews, numerous cousins, family, friends, his church family, and other loved ones. Visitation will be Saturday from 12- 1 and the funeral will be 1 PM Saturday June 14, 2025 from the Valley Funeral Home Chapel in Stevenson.
