Roy Walker Owens age 76 of Flat Rock, AL passed away May 10, 2024. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Louise Hawes Owens; son, Jason (Denise) Owens; daughter, Angie (Jeff Richardson) Strange; grandsons, Curtis (Miranda) Strange, Alec Strange, Seth (Sarah) Owens, and Riley (Tristan Warner) Owens; great granddaughter, Charlotte Tyler Strange; sisters, Libby (Steve) Stubblefield and Brenda (Steve) Badgett; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Oscar and Robbie Owens; brother, James Owens; sister Suzette Bradford; grandparents, Oscar and Maudie Owens and Bob and Lora Davis. Roy was a decorated U.S. Army Vietnam Veteran and a dozer and heavy equipment operator. He retired from Smurfit-Stone in 2012. He enjoyed daily walks, gardening, and spending time with his great granddaughter, “Charlie” who brought much joy to his life. Visitation will be Sunday from 4-8 and Monday 1-3 and the funeral service will be at 3 PM on Monday May 13, 2024 from the Valley Funeral Home Chapel with Military Honors at the Cawfield Cemetery. Bro. Tommy Shoemake and Bro. Johnny Anderson will officiate.
