William Carey “W.C.” Roach of Stevenson passed away at his residence Wednesday December 6, 2023. W.C. was born August 15, 1938 to Myron Lewis and Mary Jane Precise Roach, in Fackler, AL. He was a graduate of Jackson County High School in 1957 and completed studies in Job Shop Mechanic/Machinery from Walker County Technical School in Walker County, GA. W.C was part of the Selective Service Draft of 1961 during the Cuban Missile Crisis serving in the Army until 1963. He was the owner of Stevenson Machine and Tool for 30 years, 1973 – 2003. W.C. was a Deacon and a member of the New Hope Baptist Church. W.C. was survived by his son, Carey Roach of Stevenson, AL and a sister, Frances Worley of Knoxville, TN formerly of Scottsboro. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 51 years, Betty Marie Allison Roach of Stevenson; a sister, Evelyn Roach Farr of Scottsboro; half brothers, Charles Starkey Roach of De Funiak Springs, FL, Roy Lynn Roach, of Mobile, AL, Calvin, Robert, and James Roach all of Fackler, AL; half sister, Myra Jean Roach Garner of Chattanooga, TN. Visitation will be Monday from 3-8 and the funeral will be 3 PM Tuesday December 12 from the Valley Funeral Home Chapel in Stevenson. Burial will be in the Stevenson City Cemetery.
