Louis Roy Hutchins, age 64 of Chattanooga, Tennessee, formerly of Seattle, Washington and a native of Stevenson, Alabama, passed away on Wednesday, July 1, 2015.  Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, July 8, 2015 at 1:00pm at the Valley Funeral Home - Stevenson with Pastor William Langford officiating.  Burial will follow in Stevenson Community Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11:00am-1:00pm on Wednesday, July 8, 2015 at the Valley Funeral Home - Stevenson.

Mr. Hutchins was born on February 12, 1951 to Mr. Willie Nathaniel (Jabo) Hutchins and Ossie Lee Rayford Hutchins in Stevenson, AL.  Louis was the youngest of nine children.  He was preceeded in death in death by both parents, one brother (Alfred), three sisters (Ella, Cora and Bettye).

He was united in holy matrimony to Sherry Cotton.  To this union four children were born.  He was later married to Beatrice Hutchins.

Louis graduated from Stevenson High School in 1968.  He excelled in athletics, especially football, where he scored 25 touchdowns in 1967 and received a full scholarship to Jackson State University.  Records, he established at Stevenson High still stand to this day.

He was a federal employee for 27 years (U.S. Army and United Postal Services).  Louis spent most of his adult life in the state of Washington where he served the community in helping others, such as transporting the elderly, EMS driver, pharmacy technician and transporting postal mail.  He retired from the Post Office in 2009.  He was divese in many area:  comedian, published poet and self taught chef.  When he entered a room you knew he was there, with his coy smile.  Lou had a gift of gab.  He relocated to Chattanooga, TN in 2012.

He leaves to cherish his memory, four children:  Amy (Todd) Durst of Waldorf, Maryland, Tracie Hutchins, Eric Hutchins and Melody Hutchins all of Seattle, Washington; seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren; two brothers - Moses Hutchins of Buda, Texas, Thomas (Bobbie) Hutchins of Clarksville, Tennessee; two sisters - Olla Wiles and Willie Sullivan both of Chattanooga, Tennessee; two aunts - Cassie McDonald of Stevenson and Sallie McMillan of South Pittsburg, Tennessee; a host of nieces, nephews and special friends.

Your family:  "We will always cherish his memories.  Gone but not forgotten.  He now resides in our hats and memory forever.
